The indomitable Kansas City Athletics toppled the Cincinnati Reds in 10
innings by a 11 to 7 score at Crosley Field.
The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings. Kansas City was
victorious in the 10th inning. The critical plate appearance was by Gil
Hodges who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he quieted the
crowd by clouting a Grand Slam. Kansas City had 14 hits for the game and
Cincinnati had 8.
Taylor Phillips(4-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Wally
Burnette(6-5) took the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in 1
