Herb Score reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts as the Pittsburgh Pirates
outscored the Washington Nationals 3 to 2.

Score(10-5) pitched a solid game. He was reached for 5 hits and 7 walks in 8
innings. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

Score was helped out by Tom Acker who recorded his 11th save. Don
Newcombe(9-11) was the losing pitcher. When asked about his strikeout total
for the game, Score offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see
them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I
kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without
the 'W'.'
