Alex Main didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and first baseman Ivy Olson
had 4 hits and 5 RBI at Ebbets Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the
Brooklyn Dodgers by the count of 13 to 5.

Olson had a big day with his bat. He ripped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning,
hit a single in the 5th inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 6th
inning and slapped a base-hit scoring a run in the 8th inning. Pittsburgh
had 18 hits overall, while Brooklyn had 5.

Main(4-3) allowed 5 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. The
right-handed Main had his no-hit bid broken up by Rip Williams who doubled
with nobody out in the 6th inning. Christy Mathewson(9-9) was the loser. He
allowed Pittsburgh 10 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings of work.

For Pittsburgh the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been
struggling in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. With the
loss, Brooklyn has a record of 5-5 lately, 70-63 overall.
