Eddie Cicotte completed the game without help from the bullpen at National
Park where the Washington Nationals beat the Chicago Cubs 3 to 1.

Washington drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating 2 runs. Herbie Moran started the inning off right when he reached on
an error. Rebel Oakes stepped into the batter's box and he delivered a
one-base hit driving in a run. Wilbur Good then reached on an error. After
an out was recorded, Buck Weaver stepped up to the plate and he would ground
out scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the offense they were
to need. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 2nd inning with no runs
scored after that point.

Cicotte(8-19), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Dick
Rudolph(19-11) suffered the loss. It was a tough loss for him as he did not
allow an earned run in his 6 innings of work.
