Rube Marquard had a complete game at Sportsman'S Park as the St. Louis Browns
won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Washington Nationals by the
count of 4 to 3.

St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with
3 runs using 4 hits. Jay Kirke got things going when he hit a single. Milt
Stock came next and he smacked a single. Ivey Wingo then reached on an
error. Sherry Magee followed and he delivered a single plating a run.
Braggo Roth came up to bat and stroked a base-hit giving St. Louis the
victory and sending the 5,335 home-town fans home happy. St. Louis had 10
hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Marquard(7-12) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Bill James(6-16) was the losing pitcher. Tim Singer was ebullient after the
game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't
going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes
sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
