St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs using 4 hits. Jay Kirke got things going when he hit a single. Milt Stock came next and he smacked a single. Ivey Wingo then reached on an error. Sherry Magee followed and he delivered a single plating a run. Braggo Roth came up to bat and stroked a base-hit giving St. Louis the victory and sending the 5,335 home-town fans home happy. St. Louis had 10 hits for the afternoon. The win was credited to Marquard(7-12) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs. Bill James(6-16) was the losing pitcher. Tim Singer was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild!
