Warren Spahn tossed a complete game at Griffith Stadium as the Washington
Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 4.

Bill White enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He smacked a three-run homer
in the 1st inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 5th inning.
Cincinnati threatened in the 9th but Washington was able to put down the
rally.

The win was credited to Spahn(15-9) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.
Ray Crone(8-9) was tagged with the loss. When questioned about the loss, Rob
Hickok said, 'The fans got to see an exciting game out there tonight.
Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this time. Next time, though, we'll
be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
