Frank Lary allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard
for New York-AL and Mickey Vernon smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the
Kansas City Athletics defeated the New York-AL Yankees by a score of 8 to 0
at Yankee Stadium.

Vernon was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning, hit a
bases-empty home run in the 4th inning and laced a base-hit scoring two
baserunners in the 5th inning. Kansas City had many opportunities throughout
the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Lary(15-8). The losing pitcher was Vern
Law(5-8). He served up 5 homeruns in his 9 innings.
