They almost ran out of baseballs at Yankee Stadium as incredible Kansas City
Athletics clobbered the ice-cold New York-AL Yankees pitching staff, scoring
12 runs while Lew Burdette(23-4)with bullpen help surrendered 2 runs to New
York-AL.

Kansas City took the lead off Chuck Stobbs in the first inning plating an
isolated run using 2 hits.  Kansas City bats were very productive in the 2nd
inning which saw them plate 3 runs on 4 hits, the 5th inning with 3 runs on 4
hits and the 6th inning when they had 3 runs on 6 hits.  Kansas City simply
wore out the New York-AL pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Stobbs(10-16) was the loser.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and
no walks.
