Catcher Ed Bailey smacked 2 homeruns and Connie Johnson pitched 7 strong
innings as the strong Kansas City Athletics smashed the overmatched Brooklyn
Dodgers, 16 to 2.

Bailey really lit it up for Kansas City. The Brooklyn fans let him have it
for what he did to their boys. He depressed the partisan hometown fans with
a grand slam home run in the 5th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'
in the 8th inning. Kansas City bats were very productive in the 2nd inning
with 5 runs on 3 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 5
hits. Kansas City had 18 hits overall, while Brooklyn had 4.

The winning pitcher was Johnson(15-4) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Hal
Brown(5-7) took the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 1 and 2/3
innings.
