The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Cleveland Indians 5 to 4 at Forbes Field in
a hard fought contest.

Pittsburgh scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Lou
Skizas lined a one-base hit. Pete Runnels came next and he reached on an
error. After an out was recorded, Al Dark then drew a walk to load the
bases. After another out, Minnie Minoso came to bat and drew a walk scoring
the run. Cleveland tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Jack Harshman(6-7) was the winner allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Tom
Sturdivant(11-15) was the losing pitcher in relief. It was a tough loss for
him as he did not allow an earned run in his 3 innings of work.
