Fred Hutchinson came through with a solid 8 innings as the Philadelphia
Phillies were badly beaten by the very talented Boston Red Sox, 15 to 0.

The game started off with Boston taking the lead in the first when they came
up with 2 runs on 1 hit.  That early scoring held up.  Boston bats were very
productive in the 6th inning when they had 7 runs on 6 hits.  Boston had 16
hits overall, while Philadelphia had 5.  

Hutchinson(17-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing
no runs. Curt Simmons(4-15) was the loser.  He was touched for 8 hits and 5
walks in 3 innings.
