George Davies pitched a complete game as the seemingly unstoppable Cleveland
Spiders outscored the Cincinnati Reds 3 to 2.

Cleveland scored 1 run in the decisive 4th inning.  Jake Virtue tripled.  One
out later, Jack O'Connor came to bat and worked the squeeze play to
perfection scoring the run.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as
neither team was able to score again.  

The win was credited to Davies(16-8) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
The losing pitcher was Frank Dwyer(22-15).  He allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk
in 9 innings.
