Rube Waddell had a strong outing as the Boston-AL Americans topped the
Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 2 to 1 at Huntington Ave Grnds.

Waddell(1-1) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago-NL offense.
He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings
improving his ERA from 3.24 to 2.08. The pitchers took over after the 4th
inning as neither team was able to score again.

Jack Taylor(0-1) suffered the loss. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not
allow an earned run in his 7 innings of work.

'Waddell pitched a gem of a game', Lee Palmer recounted. 'He kept our batters
off balance the entire game.'
