Right fielder Topsy Hartsel had 4 hits as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4 at Bennett
Park.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Detroit was victorious
in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Johnny Evers laced a
base-knock.  One out later, Bunk Congalton came to the plate and doubled
giving Detroit the victory and sending the 6,174 home-town fans home happy.
For the game Detroit out-hit Philadelphia-AL 14 to 7.  

Otto Hess(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Doc White(0-1)
was the loser in relief.  He pitched 2 and 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and
