Jimmy Williams had 5 hits and 4 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Boston-NL Braves by a score of 10 to 4 at West Side Park.

Williams enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He ripped a one-base hit resulting
in a run in the 1st inning, lined a base-hit in the 3rd inning, tripled
knocking in a run in the 5th inning, lined a single in the 7th inning and
cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 8th inning.  Chicago-NL
finished with 17 hits while Boston-NL ended up with 10.  

The winning pitcher was Jimmy Dygert(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in 7 innings. Tex
Neuer preserved the game for Dygert, recording his his 1st save.  Glenn
Liebhardt(1-2) took the loss.  By giving up 5 runs in 7 innings his ERA
increased from 2.25 to 3.52.  

Williams was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I
want to see how that game looks on paper.'
