Jack Coombs completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Washington
Nationals outscored the St. Louis-AL Browns 11 to 4.

Larry Doyle had a good day at the plate.  He lofted a three-run bomb in the
1st inning, ripped a single in the 3rd inning and doubled in the 7th inning.
Washington had a total of 14 hits for the game.  

The winning pitcher was Coombs(1-0) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Ed
Walsh(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Washington
offense and allowed 14 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
