Walter Johnson whiffed 13 batters and Shoeless Joe Jackson had 2 base hits and
2 RBI at Huntington Ave Grnds where the Boston-AL Red Sox beat the Washington
Nationals 7 to 0.

Johnson(4-1) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Washington batters. He surrendered only 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings
lowering his ERA to 2.30. Boston-AL banged out 14 hits on the afternoon.

Smoky Joe Wood(4-1) took the loss. He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 2
walks in 7 innings. 'Everything felt great' Johnson said. 'I had a good
fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.'
