George Crowe cracked 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the New York-AL Yankees
bested the Chicago-NL Cubs 7 to 4 at Yankee Stadium.

Crowe enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He ripped a solo home run in
the 2nd inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning and lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. New York-AL finished with 11 hits
while Chicago-NL ended up with 6.

Jim Wilson(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Jack Meyer got the save, his 1st. Robin Roberts(0-1) took the loss. He
served up 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Crowe said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
