Vic Willis tossed a complete game shutout as the New York-NL Giants defeated
the Philadelphia-NL Phillies by the score of 2 to 0 at Baker
Bowl.

Willis(3-2) was solid in the win.  He allowed only 6 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings improving his ERA from 1.53 to 1.17.  Philadelphia-NL had a chance to
come back in the 9th but they came up short.  

George Winter(0-5) was tagged with the loss in relief.  Mark McGonigle was in
a sour mood after the game.  'Even you guys up in the press box know why we
lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
