Larry Doyle cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at American League Park as the
Washington Nationals beat the St. Louis-AL Browns in 11 innings 11 to
9.

Both teams were tied at 9 runs apiece after nine innings. Washington won the
game in the 11th inning. Fred Clarke led off and keyed the rally when he
drew a walk. Doyle came next and he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run making Washington the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Washington had a total of 17 hits for the game.

Eddie Stack(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Claude
Hendrix(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. His biggest problem was
control as he allowed 7 walks in 3 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Doyle said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
