The Cleveland Indians endured an embarrassing pasting as a potent New York
Yankees lineup tallied 18 runs while Ken Raffensberger(2-0), with relief help
from Ned Garver, allowed Cleveland 7 runs.

Richie Ashburn helped send the fans home happy. He doubled in the 2nd inning
and electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home run in the 5th inning. New
York bats were hot in the 2nd inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits and the
5th inning with 8 runs on 8 hits. Offensively, New York was a juggernaut.
They scored in 6 separate innings.

Garver got the save, his 2nd. Cliff Fannin(0-1) was tagged with the loss.
New York knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 8 runs in 4 innings.
