Saul Rogovin had 2 base hits as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics defeated the
Boston-AL Red Sox 8 to 6 at Fenway Park.

Philadelphia-AL jumped on top of Boston-AL in the top of the 5th inning when
they came up with 4 runs on 5 hits.  The big moment was provided by Gil
Hodges who disappointed the partisan crowd when he cracked a two-run shot.
Overall Philadelphia-AL out-hit Boston-AL 11 to 5.  

Rogovin(1-0) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Luis Aloma
got the save, his 1st.  Sandy Consuegra(1-2) suffered the loss.  He was
unable to control the Philadelphia-AL offense and allowed 9 hits and 7 walks
in 6 innings.  

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Rogovin said,
'this was one of those times.'
