Del Gainer had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs won a
heart-stopping victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers, 12 to 11.

The game was won by Chicago-NL with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Howard Shanks doubled.  George Cutshaw followed next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Gainer then laced a base-hit giving Chicago-NL the victory
and sending the 8,160 home-town fans home happy.  Chicago-NL rapped out 15
hits for the afternoon.  

The victory went to Willie Mitchell(2-1) who went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Earl Moseley(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and
2 hits without retiring a batter.
