What a day for the Philadelphia-AL Athletics! They shellacked the Washington
Nationals pitching for 8 runs while Art Fromme(1-0), with relief help from
Bert Humphries, shutout Washington.

Philadelphia-AL jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning when they tallied 2
runs on 1 hit. That early scoring was all that Fromme needed. For the game
Philadelphia-AL out-hit Washington 12 to 5.

George Baumgardner(0-2) was given the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
