The Boston-AL Red Sox edged the New York-AL Yankees in 10 innings at Fenway
Park by the score of 7 to 6.

The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Boston-AL won the game in the
10th inning.  Dave Philley drew a walk.  George Kell followed next and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Eddie Stanky then drew a walk.  Johnny Groth
followed and he doubled giving Boston-AL the win much to the delight of the
home town crowd.  Boston-AL totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  

Mel Queen(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jim McDonald(0-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3
innings.  

Boston-AL now has a record of 10-7.  New York-AL has a record of 0-2, worst in
the league after the loss.
