First baseman Gil Hodges hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics defeated the Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 10 to 7 at Wrigley
Field.

Philadelphia-AL took the lead for good in the 4th inning when they came up
with 4 runs on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Billy Johnson who deflated the
crowd as he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Philadelphia-AL managed 11
hits in their victory.  

Al Brazle(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Luis
Aloma preserved the game for Brazle, recording his his 1st save.  Harry
Brecheen(0-2) was hit with the loss.  He couldn't find the strike zone and
allowed 6 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
