In a game for the baseball purist, Ken Raffensberger(1-0) and Dutch
Leonard(0-1) squared off in a tense pitching duel, New York Yankees finally
emerged victorious over Cincinnati Reds, 3 to 1.

New York came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning plating 2
runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Bud Stewart led off and keyed the rally when he
ripped a base-hit.  Richie Ashburn stepped up next and he banged out a
single.  Ashburn then stole second base.  Al Dark followed and he lined a
one-base hit scoring two baserunners.  New York finished with 11 hits while
Cincinnati ended up with 6.  

Ken Heintzelman recorded the save, his 1st.
