In a close game it was the Cleveland Indians 6, the Boston Red Sox 4 at Fenway
Park.

Cleveland set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 4
runs on 4 hits.  The key at-bat was by Aaron Robinson who quieted the crowd
when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run.  Howie Pollet
pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 1st save.  

The victory went to Dave Koslo(1-0) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. The
losing pitcher was Ralph Branca(2-1).  He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and
2 walks in 7 innings.
