Third baseman Eddie Yost had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals
outscored the Philadelphia Phillies 9 to 5.

Yost provided the offensive punch.  He doubled which brought home a run in the
1st inning, tripled in the 4th inning, slapped a single scoring two
baserunners in the 5th inning and tripled knocking in a run in the 9th
inning.  St. Louis totaled 12 hits on the afternoon.  

Larry Jansen(1-1) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Bubba
Harris earned the save, his 1st.  Murry Dickson(0-1) ended up with the loss.
He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
