Third baseman Bobby Brown hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh
Pirates smashed the overmatched Philadelphia-NL Phillies, 15 to 5.

Brown had a big day at the plate.  He doubled scoring a run in the 1st inning,
bombed a two-run dinger in the 2nd inning and laced a base-knock in the 6th
inning.  Pittsburgh lit up the scoreboard in the 1st inning when they had 8
runs on 9 hits.  Pittsburgh had many opportunities throughout the game and
scored in 6 separate innings.  

The win went to Early Wynn(3-1) who allowed 5 runs in 6 innings. Bob Friend
preserved the game for Wynn, recording his his 1st save.  Tom Morgan(1-1) was
the losing pitcher.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 20 hits and 2 walks in
6 innings.  

Pittsburgh now has a record of 11-7.  With the loss, Philadelphia-NL has a
record of 6-4 lately, 12-6 overall.
