WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Duff Cooley robbed Rudy Hulswitt of a Homerun!

Pat Moran hit 3 doubles and had 4 RBI as the Boston Beaneaters outscored the
Philadelphia Phillies 9 to 8.

The Philadelphia fans didn't appreciate the big day Moran had. He doubled
plating two runs in the 2nd inning, doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning
and doubled plating a run in the 7th inning. Philadelphia was not lacking
for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them
as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

Togie Pittinger(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings
and allowing 8 runs. Pittinger got help from Tom Fisher who earned his 1st
save. Tom Barry(0-1) was given the loss. He was unable to control the
Boston offense and allowed 13 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
