Fred Clarke slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Deacon Phillippe had an
impressive outing at Columbia Park as the Washington Nationals beat the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics by the count of 3 to 0.

Washington claimed the early lead in the first inning plating one baserunner.
After an out was recorded, Jesse Burkett single-handedly provided a rally, as
he belted a solo home run. That was all Phillippe(1-1) needed.
Philadelphia-AL proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

Frank Owen(1-1) took the loss. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 11 hits
and no walks.
