Mickey Doolin had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies topped
the Brooklyn Superbas by a score of 7 to 6 at Washington Park.

Philadelphia tallied 5 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they came up
with 4 base hits. The key at-bat was by Otto Knabe who silenced the crowd
when he delivered a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Brooklyn threatened in
the 9th but Philadelphia was able to put down the rally.

The win was credited to Earl Moore(1-0) who went 8 innings allowing 6 runs.
Cliff Curtis earned his 1st save. Cy Barger(0-1) was charged with the loss.

Bill Dahlen was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
