Roger Connor cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Browns defeated
the Cleveland Spiders by a score of 7 to 4 at Robison Field.

The St. Louis fans enjoyed the offense provided by Connor. He delivered a
one-base hit in the 2nd inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 6th inning and
cracked a solo homerun in the 8th inning. Cleveland had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.

Ted Breitenstein(1-0) allowed 4 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Breitenstein was helped out by Dewey McDougal who recorded his 1st
save. Cy Young(0-1) absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the St.
Louis offense and allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Patsy Tebeau said. 'We did
what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
