George Stone had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at West Side Park where the Detroit
Tigers beat the Chicago-NL Cubs 4 to 2.

Detroit scored 2 runs in the top of the 5th inning.  Red Ames led off and
started the attack as he drew a walk.  Topsy Hartsel stepped into the
batter's box and he doubled.  Fielder Jones then would ground out plating a
run.  Stone stepped in and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the
inning.  Detroit out-hit Chicago-NL for the game, 11 hits to 8.  

Ames(1-1) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Jack Pfiester was
credited with his 1st save.  Doc Scanlan(1-1) was given the loss.  

This win by Detroit continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
