At Sportsmans Park the Philadelphia-NL Phillies outscored the St. Louis-AL
Browns 5 to 2.

Philadelphia-NL came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th
inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits.  Shad Barry led off and started the rally
when he banged out a single.  Mark McGonigle then called for a steal which
was successful.  Art Devlin then would hit into a fielders choice scoring a
run.  Philadelphia-NL continued their aggressive style with another stolen
base.  Davy Jones came to the plate and ripped a one-base hit plating another
run.  Jones took second on the throw.  Two outs later John Titus came up and
he laced a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning.  Philadelphia-NL had
11 hits for the game and St. Louis-AL had 5.  

George Winter(1-0) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Barney
Pelty preserved the game for Winter, recording his his 1st save.  Ed
Killian(0-2) took the loss.
