TEAM RISP- Indians: 1 for 9 Cubs: 2 for 5

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Chicago-NL Cubs rallied to top Cleveland Indians by the score of 5 to
4.

Chicago-NL erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs on
5 base hits. Frank Thomas got things going when he ripped a single. After
an out was recorded, Ernie Banks stepped up to the plate and he bombed a
two-run dinger. One out later, Vern Stephens then lined a single. Bob
Chakales followed and he stroked a single. Ferris Fain stepped into the box
and doubled resulting in an exciting win for Chicago-NL and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Chicago-NL had 13 hits overall, while
Cleveland had 5.

The win was credited to Chakales(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run. Hoyt
Wilhelm(0-2) took the loss in relief. 'What a win!', Chakales said. 'These
are the kind of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
