Bill Lange provided the offensive punch. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st inning, slapped a one-base hit which plated a run in the 7th inning and smacked a single plating two runs in the 8th inning. Chicago bats were hot in the 7th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits. Louisville was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames. The win was credited to Buttons Briggs(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs. Tom Smith(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
