Ken Raffensberger had an impressive outing as the Washington Nationals bested
the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 3 at Griffith Stadium.

Washington did all of it's offensive work in the 8th inning when they tallied
4 runs on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to Joe Dimaggio who electrified
Griffith Stadium when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. The teams
had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Raffensberger(3-0) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Jim
Konstanty earned his 6th save. Allie Reynolds(0-1) was charged with the
loss.
