St. Louis scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits. Jack Boyle started the inning off right when he hit a single. John Doran then threw a pitch that got away from the catcher. Stivetts then laced a base-knock. Stivetts took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. John Munyan came to the plate and hit a deep fly scoring a run. Dummy Hoy added to the uprising and ripped a base-hit scoring another run. St. Louis continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. St. Louis got their 2nd stolen base of the inning. Tommy McCarthy was up next and he hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. Louisville made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Stivetts(2-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 6 runs. Doran(1-2) absorbed the loss. He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 2 walks. 'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Jack Chapman said. 'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
