singled in the 6th inning, lined a one-base hit in the 8th inning and blasted
a Grand Slam homerun in the 9th inning. The Pittsburg offense was great,
scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

The win went to Brownie Foreman(1-0) who allowed 6 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Jim Hughey earned his 1st save. Red Ehret(0-1) took the loss. He got hit
hard, allowing 16 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Smith said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you
out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
