Second baseman Gene Demontreville had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Jim Hughes
went 9 solid innings as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington
Senators 8 to 1 at Boundary Field.

Baltimore wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
scored 4 runs on 3 hits.  That early scoring was all that Hughes(1-0) needed.
Baltimore finished with 12 hits in the victory.  

Doc Amole(0-1) was the loser.  He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings.  'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think
I'm hitting a good groove.' Hughes said after the game.  'I'm ready to start
another game tomorrow!'
