Center fielder Tom Long had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Bill Doak allowed Miller
Huggins to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the St. Louis
Cardinals topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 6 to 3 at Redland
Field.

St. Louis tallied 3 runs in the 6th inning.  After an out was recorded, Harry
Glenn opened up the rally as he drew a walk.  Doak next to the plate and he
reached on an error.  One out later, Bob Bescher then drew a walk to load the
bases.  Long followed and he tripled plating three runs.  St. Louis had just
6 hits for the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Doak(1-1) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs.
Pete Schneider(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  His biggest problem was control
as he allowed 12 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
