Cliff Chambers shutout Washington while allowing the Chicago-NL bullpen a
day-off at Griffith Stadium where the Chicago-NL Cubs beat the Washington
Nationals 7 to 0.

Chambers(2-1) pitched a solid game.  He surrendered only 6 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings dropping his ERA from 2.12 to 1.38.  Chicago-NL had a total of 13
hits for the game.  

Hal Newhouser(0-3) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Chicago-NL
