Yogi Berra blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored
the Chicago-NL Cubs 6 to 3.

Pittsburgh tallied 3 runs in the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. The key
offensive moment was provided by Bobby Brown who quieted the crowd when he
doubled bringing in two baserunners. Chicago-NL threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.

Ewell Blackwell(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 7 innings. Blackwell
got help from Ellis Kinder who was credited with his 1st save. Larry
Jansen(1-2) suffered the loss.

Andy Spector was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
