The Philadelphia-AL Athletics had an easy time of it at Shibe Park defeating
the New York-AL Yankees by a score of 11 to 6.

Philadelphia-AL had 8 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning
when they had 5 base hits.  The big moment was provided by Eddie Joost who
brought a roar from the partisan Shibe Park fans when he lifted one out of
the park for a two run home run.  Philadelphia-AL managed 11 hits in their
victory.  

Al Brazle(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 1 inning. Andy
Hansen(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.  He allowed 5 runs and 4 hits
in 1 and 2/3 innings.
