In a tight game it was the Washington Nationals 11, the Detroit Tigers 9 at
National Park.

Detroit never recovered after Washington took the lead in the bottom of the
7th inning when they scored 2 runs on 1 hit. The key offensive moment was
provided by Heinie Zimmerman who made the crowd happy when he lifted one out
of the park for a two run home run. Detroit made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Ed Willett(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 7 innings. Willett
got help from Smoky Joe Wood who earned his 2nd save. Bob Harmon(0-1) was
tagged with the loss. He allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Willett said.
