Buster Brown didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning as the Boston-AL Red Sox
defeated the Washington Nationals 2 to 0 at Huntington Ave Grnds.

Brown(1-0) simply dominated Washington.  He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk
in 9 innings improving his ERA from 0.60 to 0.38.  The right-handed Brown
lost his chance for a no-hitter when George Stone doubled with nobody out in
the 8th inning.  Boston-AL had only 4 hits for the game.  

The loss was charged to Bob Ewing(2-2).  He pitched 7 innings and surrendered
4 hits and 3 walks. 'Brown pitched a gem of a game', Gordon Renaud recounted.
'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
