Mickey Mantle had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Mel Parnell came through with a solid 9
innings as the New York-AL Yankees really laid it on the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics 14 to 0.

New York-AL started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they scored 5 runs on 3 hits. That early scoring was all that
Parnell(2-1) needed. New York-AL bats were very productive in the 1st inning
when they had 5 runs on 3 hits. New York-AL simply wore out the
Philadelphia-AL pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Lew Burdette(0-2) took the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 20 hits and 9 walks in 9 innings. 'He had his 'A' game today,' Robert
Baker said of Parnell. 'Very impressive performance.'
