WEB GEMS- Bot 3rd: Chappy Charles robbed Mike Mitchell of a base hit.

In an embarrassing outing for the Cincinnati Reds pitching staff, St. Louis
Cardinals flexed their collective muscle amassing 15 runs as Charlie
Rhodes(1-0), with relief help from Forrest More, allowed Cincinnati 6
runs.

St. Louis scored 6 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning with the help of
4 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Roger Bresnahan who quieted the
home crowd when he doubled with all three baserunners touching home. St.
Louis bats were hot in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 4 hits
and the 7th inning plating 5 runs. St. Louis managed 10 hits in their
victory.

Ed Karger(0-2) was hit with the loss. His biggest problem was control as he
allowed 10 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
